MRI Scanner

Nine Mile Vets, Finchampsted is the location of the Nine Mile Veterinary Group's MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) unit. This has recently moved from Farnborough where we previously investigated and treated a large number of varied and interesting cases.

Veterinary MRI units are extremely rare due their size and complexity and there are very few permanent units in private veterinary practice in the UK. For this reason, we offer a Vet MRI service to other vets and receive many cases from this area and further afield.

MRI scans are performed for a wide range of reasons, including: seizures, middle ear disease, brain disease, spinal disease, nasal disease, joint disease and assessment of tumors and lesions prior to surgery.

Whilst we hope that your pet will not need serious treatment, it may be reassuring for you to know that we are one of the few practices who have immediate access to MRI should it be required.

For further information regarding cases requiring an MRI, or for an estimate of the costs involved, then please contact Emily Caddick on 0118 9733466

Syringomyelia Scanning

Syringomyelia (SM) is a heritable condition which can affect several breeds, but most notably the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The only way to diagnose affected dogs is to look for specific changes in the brain and spinal cord which can only be seen on an MRI scan.

We are part of a screening scheme for Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's (endorsed by the Cavalier Club) where we scan dogs intended for breeding to make sure that they are clear of the changes associated with SM before they are mated. We offer the scans at reduced fee/discounted price of 250 + VAT for each dog. Please note that this price is not for a full MRI scan and is for a screening scan composed of a small number of views.

Please contact us via email or by telephone on 01189 733466 if you would like to arrange a scan for your dog.
