Feeding your pet after neutering

Many owners are put off neutering their pet because they worry that they will become overweight. Neutering reduces the overall energy requirements of an animal and so continuing to feed them the same amount after surgery will increase their risk of weight gain.

Nine Mile vets recommend feeding approximately 2/3rds of what you would have fed before surgery, although it is important to check that your pet is on the right diet and amount. Our vets and nurses are happy to discuss your petís individual requirements to keep them fit and healthy. Diet is something that will be discussed during your petís post-op checks.

We recommend feeding Royal Canin Veterinary Care Nutrition, Royal Canin have specially formulated a variety of diets specific to your pet's requirements, depending on his or her age, size and lifestyle. Please speak to your practice for further information.
